Printing tips: paper, size, bleed and folding

QR Studio exports at 300 DPI with a 3 mm bleed and crop marks, which is exactly what commercial printers expect. Here's what the terms mean and what to pick.

Step by step

  1. 1

Bleed is the extra 3 mm of background around the edge so there's no white line after cutting. Keep it on for anything a printer will cut.

  2. 2

Crop marks show where to cut. Print shops love them; for home printing, turn them off and cut along the edge.

  3. 3

Table tents: the PDF has both panels on one sheet with a fold line. Print on 250–300 gsm card, score along the line, fold.

  4. 4

Stickers: ask for vinyl or laminated paper for outdoor use. Round 5 cm is the popular size.

  5. 5

Posters: A4 on 170 gsm matte paper looks professional; A3 for windows.

  6. 6

Home printing: pick PNG, set the printer to 100% / actual size (not 'fit to page'), and use the best quality setting.
